AMPs are automatically renewed each year and billed to the on-file payment method for your NCR Retail Online store. Each AMP must be renewed annually in order to continue using the extension.

Why Are Meta Tags So Important for SEO?

Meta tags provide search engines with information about each page on your site. Visitors can't see meta info, but search engines read meta information which in turn makes indexing faster. Meta tags help search engines understand pages on your website. Meta Title and Meta Description are the most important of them. Canonical short urls also have a significant value for SEO. Meta information should be indicated on all pages of your website.

Essential Meta Tags for SEO

  • Meta titles
  • Meta descriptions
  • Meta keywords
  • Meta robots
  • Image alt and title

User-friendly page layout

  • Short product description

Make your store more SEO-friendly with little effort

Automatically generate meta tags

If the description or meta tag fields of a product or category are empty, the extension will dynamically generate content for the missing data based on product and category attributes. You can generate meta tags for:

  • Product and category pages
  • Category descriptions
  • Short and full product descriptions

Accurate SEO Optimization

Having appropriate meta tags on all product and category pages is essential for good SEO results. If you have a lot of products, it will take time to add meta tags to all products manually. Meta Tag Templates for NRO helps by automatically generating proper meta tags for your product and category pages based on the specified attributes.

Quickly Optimize Your Store

With Meta Tag Templates for NRO, you can very quickly create category descriptions, long and short product descriptions. This can be extremely helpful when you need to launch your website fast and don't have enough time to write all descriptions, so you can:

  • Create a few templates and have descriptions generated for any number of products and categories in minutes.
  • For categories, you can have separate templates for top level and subcategories. For products, you can create a separate template for each category, e.g., one template for products in the DVD category and a different template for products in the Apparel category. This ensures maximal relevance of meta tags and better SEO results.

Let the Extension Save You Time

Automatic generation of meta tags saves a huge amount of time on website administration, eliminating the time it would take to manually enter the data.

Specify Meta Tags Manually Where Needed

At the same time, it's still possible to manually specify meta information and descriptions for a product or category. Manually-entered meta information will not be overwritten by the automatic algorithm.

Flexibility

The extension lets you experiment with meta information and takes very little effort. Just edit the tags templates and all your meta titles and descriptions get modified accordingly (excluding any manually-entered meta information).

Advanced Features for Optimizing Your Store

Meta Tags by Category: Create a Separate Template for Products in Each Category

It's possible to add a separate template for products in each category. For example you can create a template which will apply only to products from the category Shirts. Using the template you can specify such parameters as page title, meta keywords, meta description, short product description and full product description. If a product belongs to several categories, only one template will be applied — the one for the lowest level category. If it's empty, a higher level category or general template will be used.

Separate Templates for Top-Level Categories

Meta Tag Templates for NRO lets you create separate templates for top-level categories and sub-categories. So for top-level categories, which are often without products, you can have a totally different template.

Character Limit for Meta Title and Meta Description

Google doesn't 'like' long meta tags, so it's important to make sure they're right. It is recommended not to exceed 65 characters for meta title and 160 for meta description.

Display Short Product Descriptions on Category Pages

You can show short product descriptions on category pages by adding just a small snippet of code to the category page template. (May require additional professional services assistance.)

Error Prevention

If at some point attribute values of product are changed (e.g. color becomes black instead if green; brand becomes Nike instead of Adidas, etc.), the extension will automatically use the new data for meta tags so the meta information will remain correct.

Use Variables to Create Accurate Meta Tags

The following variables can be used for description and meta tag templates:

  • All attributes values: for example {color}, {brand}, {price}, {special_price}, etc
  • Store info: {store_view}, {store}, {website}
  • Category info: {category} for current category, or {categories} for full category list as in the breadcrumbs
  • Price: {final_price} for final product price excluding tax and {final_price_incl_tax} for final product price including tax
  • Grouped products: {startingfrom_price} and {startingto_price}
  • Category pages with pager: {current_page}

So to get a meta title similar to 'Buy black Nike sneakers for $99 only at MyWebsite.com!' for all your products, you would create a template 'Buy {color} {brand} {name} for {price} only at {website}!'. It works similarly for meta descriptions.

More Examples

Category Page Examples
Buy {category} from {website}
Buy {meta_parent_category} and {category} [by {manufacturer|brand}]from {website}
Buy cheap {category} from {website}
Buy cheap {meta_parent_category} and {category} [by {manufacturer|brand}] from {website}

Product Page Examples
Buy {name} {color}, from {manufacturer|brand} for {price} only in {website}
Best {name} in {website} {short_description}
Buy {name} {color}, from {manufacturer|brand} for {price} only in {website}
Buy {name} [by {manufacturer|brand}] [of {color} color] [for only {price}] [in {categories}] at [{store},] {website}
{name}:  {short_description}
Buy {name} [of {color} color] [for only {price}] [in {categories}] at [{store},] {website}

Advanced Parsing Options

  • You can use complex variables like {brand|manufacturer|provider}, the first non-empty value will be used. This works great, if for some products you use manufacturer attribute and for others brand or provider attributes. So for products with brand attribute, brand value will be used for meta tags; for products with manufacturer attribute, manufacturer value will be used and so on.
  • You can also use optional variables in square parenthesis '[]' both for product descriptions and meta tag templates. Optional variables will be processed only if products use attributes contained within variable. For example there's optional variable [by {manufacturer|brand}]. If a product has neither manufacturer nor brand attributes, the variable will not be used for descriptions/meta tags of this product. This way you can create very flexible templates with optional components, which will be used only appropriately.
