NRO allows you to add an unlimited number of item attributes. An attribute is defined as any property of an item, including sku, product title, images, description, color, length ... just about everything that describes your item. Learn more in our Help Center, Understanding Attributes.
The basic ecommerce fields are already uploading from Counterpoint to NRO. Fields includ name, description, price, quantity, brand (if it is set to the vendor field), and short description (from an item note). Plus the customer category and basic customer information such as name, address, phone, and email 1 are also uploaded from Counterpoint to NRO.
However, you may wish to utilize additional NCR Counterpoint fields for your item attributes and maintain all your data on the Counterpoint side. You can utilize Counterpoint profile fields or item attribute fields. Our Professional Services team can create a custom mapping file which facilitates how and where to display the NCR Counterpoint-driven attributes in your storefront.
Adding Attributes from Counterpoint
Upload additional product information from Counterpoint to NCR Retail Online, including item profile fields, item attributes, and/or item notes.
- Wine stores can upload info such as Varietal, Country, Wine Score, etc.
- Ski stores can upload info such as Ski Length, Waist Width, Skier Ability, etc.
- Book stores can upload info such as ISBN, Author, Page Count, Publisher, etc.
You'll need to provide us with a list of each product field you want to upload, and tell us where this data lives in Counterpoint. For profile fields and attributes, you can send us a screen shot of the Item tab in Setup / System / Quick Setup.
We'll also need to know how you want to use each attribute in your storefront. For example, should the attribute display in layered navigation? Should it display on the product page? Should it be searchable? For this, we ask you to complete a chart to tell us how each attribute should be set up. You can always change these settings later on your own, through the NRO Admin Panel.
Adding a Custom Mapping file to Your Site
Start by downloading the template spreadsheet: NRO_Custom_Attributes_Template.xlsx. After you authorize Custom Mapping File for NRO, you can submit completed the spreadsheet to the Professional Services Team to create the custom mapping.
Ultimate Mapping File
In most cases, we recommend starting with our 'Ultimate Mapping File', which maps over all the attribute fields from Counterpoint, even if you don't need them today. This way, you'll have the fields already mapped and available for use within NRO, should you wish to utilize these fields in the future.
